All adults aged 18 and over should be able to live free from fear and harm, and have their rights and choices respected.

Some adults are less able to protect themselves than others, and some have difficulty making their wishes and feelings known.  This may make them more vulnerable to abuse. 

Safeguarding adults refers to the protection of individuals from abuse or neglect.  if you feel that you, or another adult is at risk then you should consider making a safeguarding adult referral.

Abuse is the improper usage or treatment for a bad purpose, often to unfairly or improperly gain benefit, physical or verbal maltreatment, injury, sexual assault, violation, rape, unjust practices; wrongful practice or custom; offense; crime, or otherwise verbal aggression.[1] Abuse can come in many forms.
An emergency contact is usually needed, in case of an incident occuring.
The illegal movement of people, typically for the purposes of forced labour or commercial sexual exploitation.
Safeguarding is protecting vulnerable adults and children from abuse or neglect. It means making sure people are supported to get good access to health care and stay well. It is wrong if vulnerable people are not treated by professionals with the same respect as others.
